If Color + Walls = Panic Attack

by Kelly Edwards | June 14th, 2010

I’m so excited to have the pleasure of working with Glidden on one of their new projects….creating color confidence.  This Wednesday I will be talking to news stations, radio stations and various media outlets around the country about color.  Specifically the main roadblocks that people encounter when choosing colors for their space and how to overcome a little color paralysis.  What I love about Glidden is that they’ve reduced their color palette so picking a color doesn’t seem as overwhelming, they offer small 3 oz. testers (that come with the brush!) and they also offer oversized color chips, because who can tell what the color looks like from those tiny swatches. As an added bonus, Im throwing in a few of my favorite colorful masterpieces below to get some of your color juices flowing.  Take some cues from these photos if you are stuck in a color rut , for instance go for wallpaper or paint treatments to add a little texture and drama to your walls or throw in some fabulous colorful furniture pieces.   Most importantly seek inspiration from pictures (I got these from Massucco Warner Miller, but I know websites like Glidden.com allow you to see the actual paint color in a room). Now if all of this color talk sends you into a full blown panic attack, you can take it down a few notches simply by putting one or two colorful pieces in your space, like a pillow, a small accessory or even a chair or small table.  I guarantee it only takes one colorful thing in a room to make a huge difference.  I may be posting when and where I’ll be speaking on Wednesday so stay tuned for updates.  I could be on a news station near you!!!

Lindsey Buckingham’s Home

by Kelly Edwards | July 30th, 2009

My boyfriend is a music fanatic.  At least 3 or 4 times a month I find myself standing amongst several hundred people checking out the latest and/or the greatest. Festivals, shows and concerts are a weekly ritual in my life.  When we aren’t scoring last minute tickets to a show, we are listening to records or watching it on television. VH1 Classics to be exact. Last night on our favorite VH1 Classics they featured a few of my favorites, U2 and Fleetwood Mac, which of course provoked today’s blog post. Back in March, Elle Decor Magazine had featured Lindsey Buckingham’s (the guitarist from Fleetwood Mac) home in Los Angeles that he shares with his wife Kristen who also happens to be an interior designer.   Their home is amazing and glamorous with a touch of bohemia. My kind of design!  I’m sure that you will find after looking at these pics that their home encompasses comfort, style and a sense of creativity that seems to run in the family.  I may be a bit biased since I’m a HUGE Fleetwood Mac fan, but putting the music aside, I think his wife did an amazing job!

1 Wedding 2 Babies

by Kelly Edwards | July 13th, 2009

This week I have weddings and babies on the brain.  No…Im not getting married, nor am I having a baby.  But I do have 2 close friends who just found out this week that they are indeed having babies and 1 friend just got engaged.  My best friend Kritter ( thats what we call her), always makes fun of me and tells me that I get invited to more baby showers and weddings than all her friends combined.  I’m inclined to agree.  With that said, let the planning begin. My search of-course started online so I found this great blog site called Style Me Pretty, which caters to Brides.  All these entries below came from their site.  Amazing stuff! I had such a hard time choosing which ones to post on here, because everything she has on her site is fabulous!
