If Color + Walls = Panic Attack

by Kelly Edwards | June 14th, 2010

I’m so excited to have the pleasure of working with Glidden on one of their new projects….creating color confidence.  This Wednesday I will be talking to news stations, radio stations and various media outlets around the country about color.  Specifically the main roadblocks that people encounter when choosing colors for their space and how to overcome a little color paralysis.  What I love about Glidden is that they’ve reduced their color palette so picking a color doesn’t seem as overwhelming, they offer small 3 oz. testers (that come with the brush!) and they also offer oversized color chips, because who can tell what the color looks like from those tiny swatches. As an added bonus, Im throwing in a few of my favorite colorful masterpieces below to get some of your color juices flowing.  Take some cues from these photos if you are stuck in a color rut , for instance go for wallpaper or paint treatments to add a little texture and drama to your walls or throw in some fabulous colorful furniture pieces.   Most importantly seek inspiration from pictures (I got these from Massucco Warner Miller, but I know websites like Glidden.com allow you to see the actual paint color in a room). Now if all of this color talk sends you into a full blown panic attack, you can take it down a few notches simply by putting one or two colorful pieces in your space, like a pillow, a small accessory or even a chair or small table.  I guarantee it only takes one colorful thing in a room to make a huge difference.  I may be posting when and where I’ll be speaking on Wednesday so stay tuned for updates.  I could be on a news station near you!!!

Everywhere I look I see this beautiful color

Color, color, color…you hear every designer talk about color on a daily basis.  Well today, while perusing around I found my girl Martha’s post about red.  Surprisingly enough, if you asked me if I loved red I’d automatically revert to saying, “no”, but in all reality I think I am a closet lover.  Looking at this pic, I think it will convert anyone!  Even the display of radishes as an accessory on the gorgeous wood table is super cute and adds in the organic feel.
